This Sunday March 6th the New Jersey Freeze Pee Wee AAA hockey team hosted a free “Learn to Skate” session for children of the Special Needs Athletic Program (SNAP). Boys and girls of the Freeze team along with mentors and volunteers joined together to create a fun and positive environment on the ice for the children. They modeled basic skating motions, gave tips on how to get up after a fall, and held out a hand for balance and assurance. While taking a break, two members of the Freeze took a participant to the bench and explained what their hockey games are like. Through this event and because of sports, children can build confidence in each other.
Thank you to Aspen Ice for free skate rentals, party room, and helpful skating instructor Katie.
